New Position

The Digital Visual Studies research group at the University of Zurich is seeking a postdoctoral researcher (1 year, 50%) to serve as a Mediator between technical and non-technical stakeholders for an interdisciplinary project on visual open research data in the digital humanities (VORD).

Responsibilities

As Mediator, your responsibilities will include:

– Facilitating communication between the digital humanists/computer scientists on the project team and humanities researchers.

– Collecting technical feedback from the analysts and creating accessible documentation for non-technical audiences

– Organizing and promoting workshops and events to engage the broader humanities research community with the project

– Authoring papers to disseminate project results to academic conferences and journals

– Providing day-to-day liaison with external collaborators and stakeholders

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

– A Ph.D. in art history, architectural history, or a related humanities field

– Experience with digital art history and/or digital humanities methods

– Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills

– Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-expert audiences

– Interest in engaging diverse scholarly communities with computational methods

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to pioneering new approaches for the computational analysis of visual cultural heritage data. The postdoctoral researcher will help ensure the tools and methods developed by the project team are made accessible to humanities researchers.
