New Scientific Collaborator

Ana Zapata joins The Center for Digital Visual Studies in February 2024, as a Mediator for the project New Methods for Visual Open Research Data in the Digital Humanities, funded by Swissuniversities.

Her dual background in the Art History  and Literature, and Data Science supports her strategic role in bridging between the computational and humanistic approaches, as well as ensuring a broad and inclusive reach.

In addition, her international profile will help DVS expand the scholarly community around VORD,  adding a global dimension.

Ana is currently the Editor in Chief of the renowned International Journal for Digital Art History since 2022, and Editorial Manager of  H-ART. Journal of Art History, Theory, and Criticism, published by Universidad de los Andes, since 2016.

Her background in art history and literature, along with over 7 years of experience in the editorial field, has provided her with a unique perspective on the intersection of technology and the humanities. During her work in Digital Art History, she has developed a keen interest in the relationship between the humanities and Artificial Intelligence, particularly in areas such as computer vision, image processing, generative media and images, as well as the ethics and social, political, and cultural implications of AI. She is currently pursuing a Master of Information and Data Science at the University of California, Berkeley.
