VORD presentation

ON May 5th we are presenting at Media Art Histories 2025 in Colombia! 🇨🇴
Our team from the Center for Digital Visual Studies is presenting “Nuevos Métodos para Acceder a Datos Abiertos de Investigación Visual en Humanidades Digitales (VORD)” at the Re:Generative
conference in Manizales, Colombia (May 5-9, 2025).

👉 VORD (Visual Open Research Data) leverages AI to extract quantitative information from vast cultural heritage databases, creating a parametrized cultural memory in a unified latent space. Our approach combines visual analysis with natural language capabilities, enabling researchers to search for elements beyond rigid taxonomies.

What makes our work innovative is our collaborative approach with machines – we don’t treat algorithmic interpretations as definitive but use them as stepping stones toward more precise analytical understanding. Our modular AI structure allows both granular and holistic image analysis, regenerating narrative threads and supporting new interpretations in technologically and conceptually sustainable ways.

This presentation coincides with the 24th International Image Festival – Colombia, bringing together cutting-edge work at the intersection of art, design, science, and technology from the global South and beyond.

Special thanks to our team: Iacopo Neri, Ana María Zapata, Pepe Ballesteros Zapata, Ludovica Schaerf and Dr. Darío Negueruela del Castillo,. Each brings unique expertise spanning art history, visual studies, AI, digital humanities and urban studies and computation.

Looking forward to the rich exchange of ideas in the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage site of Manizales and connecting with colleagues working at the frontier of media art histories!
